For people who have grown up in San Jose, recycling, and going green is ingrained in our society. It never occurred to me that other states don't separate their paper, metal, and glass from food and landfill waste. My mom had a compost that we threw citrus rinds, and veggie scraps into, and we fed the chickens strawberry tops and other scraps. A great start, but by no means perfect.

But we're not trying to be perfect. I've learned to love being I'mperfect.

I started making small changes in 2012, and over years of researching brands and organizations, I learned how my daily choices affect the world, and how I can vote with my dollar.

Even better, I stopped buying some products, period. (Yes, even period products).

I think true power is the ability to inspire others. If I can inspire you (yes you) to make one small change, I'll have made a difference in the world.
